Missions and objectives

The “FESTA DA MBIRA” is an artistic cultural event that had its first edition in March 2017, with the participation of 15 artists performing the same instrument, with the aim of reinforcing the exchange between artists , enhancing cultural identities through the musical instrument Mbira. The Main goal is to
preserve and disseminate artistic expressions around the traditional music instrument mbira, with a vision based on equity in times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Main Activities

• Debates on the role of women in the music sector;
• Debate “Citizenship and human rights in music”;
• Traditional music instrument construction workshop;
• Exhibition of Mbiras and information material about it;
• Musical concert based on the mbira instrument.
