Human Rights

Missions and objectives

Human Library is an informal Human Rights Education method approved by
the Council of Europe and run in Lithuania since 2007 21st of March , by
National Institute for Social Integration. It is an inclusive way to challenge
prejudice and discrimination through social contact. It uses the language and
mechanism of a library to facilitate respectful conversations that can
positively change people’s attitudes and behaviours towards members of
communities who are at risk of exclusion and marginalisation.

Main Activities

We are working with various target audiences,
who are concerned about human rights and the active involvement of people from vulnerable social groups. We organize “Human Library” events at city celebrations, festivals,
in private training, schools, large and small classrooms.
