Founded in 2014, and currently led by an all-women team, Dar Jacir is an experimental learning hub for the Bethlehem community and beyond &#8211; a place to ask questions, make mistakes, exchange ideas, and to grapple with our contemporary situation. It is located in a stone house built in the 1880s that has witnessed and endured wars, occupations and revolutions. The site, on the historic Jerusalem-Hebron road, now lies in the shadow of the 8 meter high concrete Apartheid Wall and a looming Israeli watchtower.<\/p><p>Knowledge production and research are the key pillars behind Dar Jacir. Since 2018 our programming has brought together Palestinian and international artists, including; Michael Rakowitz, Vivien Sansour, Jumana Manna, Duncan Campbell, Sam Durant, Rolando Hernandez, Mahdi Fleifel, Isabella Hammad and others, to work with us to create alternative forms of knowledge, exchange and care. Artists have had the space and time to gain a deeper understanding of the place and context, strengthen their relationships with the local community, and to become witnesses and advocates to each other\u2019s struggles.<\/p><p>Our programs, both on-site and in the digital sphere, are constructed to facilitate the circulation of cultural and intellectual endeavors across a wide range of displines and media.
