VISION<\/p>

A sovereign, independent, democratic, tolerant and inclusive Palestinian institution, which grants Palestinians their basic rights, preserves their dignity, and enjoys international recognition and respect. It is, precisely, a community center for training and development and it is one of the leading NGOs in Palestine, established in 1988 to serve all individuals and groups interested in working in the field of culture and information, building a civil society as well as spreading awareness about citizenship, development and civil peace, in addition to its involvement in media. To meet growing local and global challenges by strengthening strengths, building capacity and creating real opportunities for inclusive community development and on more than one level.<\/p>

MISSION<\/p>

Established in Hebron in May 1988, ALWATAN seeks to promote the principles of democracy and good governance within various components of the Palestinian society; it further seeks to engage local and international public opinion and official circles on the Palestinian issue. To that end, ALWATAN adopts the mechanisms of an active and in-depth dialogue, the free flow of information and ideas, as well as local and international networking.<\/p>

ALWATAN aims to install and support the people with good work ethics and the spirit of civic engagement and the culture of accepting the other point of view.<\/p>

Al Watan Center is mainly engaged in holding conferences and workshops under contemporary topics and functions, targets community awareness, academic and professional training and recreational activities at the local and international levels. In addition, we work as a link to resolve internal conflicts between local institutions and networking between them, whether they are academic institutions, or political or governmental, to support local national cooperation.<\/p>

We aim to strengthen civic engagement of youth in positions of decision-making, empower women culturally, politically and economically, and raise their representation to reach a distinct civil society. Clearly identifiable, verifiable and also achievable outputs.<\/p>

Empowering Palestinians with professional and quality training and by doing so enabling them to encourage citizens to keep a watchful eye on the Power performance of elected representatives and civil servants! do politicians keep their promises, and do civil servants offer services to the public as required by law.<\/p>

ALWATAN intended to contribute to the following strategic goals:<\/p>

Pluralistic societies built where diversity is reflected in social organizations, politics, business, media and government, and where all citizens have equal standing, protected by guaranteed rights and by independent and effective courts of law.

AL-WATAN for Peace
In collaboration with Nonviolence International in Washington, DC and other organizations, ALWATAN works for Peace and aims at disseminating the philosophy of non-violence in the region. The center also helps to develop ways of civil resisting the occupation without resorting to violence. Bearing in mind the recent pattern of escalating violence, there should be a ceaseless effort on the part of all to work for a genuine peace.<\/p>

AL-WATAN for Justice<\/p>

Believing in justice as a basis for peace, the center has drawn attention to the facts and specifics of infringements against justice. Many activities related to nonviolence have been organized to tackle the issues of human rights violations. In this context, the center has built unique relations with local and international movements or organizations that advocate the ideas of peace and nonviolence. This work began long before the Oslo accords, believing in the fact that communication is the basis for all human understanding. It is also the best way to remove the barriers of fear and mistrust among the parties in order to insure a future built on justice.<\/p>

PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
ALWATAN Center organizes different developmental programs in various fields, which target all segments of the Palestinian society, especially the young men and women.<\/p>

Our major purpose is to make further efforts to raise information and cultural awareness in the different sectors of society. For instance, the Center provides Civic Education, Non-Violence, Communications Skills, Conflict Resolution, Active listening, Negotiating Art and Training for leadership development.<\/p>

In this context, ALWATAN center works at the grassroots level on the principles of nonviolence for real social change. It also takes into consideration the policies introduced to aid the most vulnerable sectors of society as women, children and young people as well. In this regard, the Center also conducts several fruitful meetings among local and international youth groups so as to give them a chance to participate in making decisions related to either political, social, or cultural issues. In the same way, ALWATAN organizes summer peace camps, group discussions and civic education courses. The center is mainly concerned with society\u2019s young people and every single issue related to women chiefly violence against women and their significant integration in the society.<\/p>

ALWATAN also provides a Club for Reading and a Portable library that encourage our visitors and volunteers to get and read books and pamphlets anytime. Furthermore, We at ALWATAN Center have a documentation department, in which interested parties can conduct field studies and researches. They can also publish books related to Palestine and its situation. We also work on decreasing the illiteracy rate among Palestinians as much as possible to develop an affinity for education among the different segments of the Palestinian society.<\/p><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>
